We recognise that Pride month is more than a celebration. It is a time for protest and solidarity. A time for reflecting on the progress of the LGBTQIA+ rights movement and what remains to be achieved.
“We have not achieved equality until every LGBT person, of every colour and background, is able to enjoy equality within our community and outside of it.”
Phyll Opoku-Gyimah, Executive Director of UK Black Pride, and Ruth Hunt, Chief Executive of Stonewall.
At The Welcoming, we stand in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. We are currently taking positive steps to make our organisation and spaces more open and inclusive for the community, and we recognise we have a journey ahead of us. We will be updating our website in the coming months with more information about our equality, diversity and inclusion work.
Throughout June, we will be sharing resources and upcoming events from LGBT organisations in Scotland on our social media – check them out!
We wish all our members, volunteers, staff and supporters a wonderful Pride month.
