What’s on at The Welcoming. Saturday 16th- Friday 22nd March Saturday 16th March (10am – 12 noon), Sunday 17th March (11am – 1pm) Digital Skills for Arabic Speakers These classes are delivered in Arabic and English and are a great way to gain confidence with using computers for email, internet, shopping, banking and creating all kinds of documents. Spaces are limited so please call the Welcoming office on 346 8577 or email [email protected] to book your place.  Saturday 16th March, Creative Space Every Saturday, 12-4pm, 5th floor at The Welcoming Come to Creative Space (every Saturday any time from 12-4pm) for fun and games …and this week we have a creative writing teacher between 2pm and 4pm to help us have fun with words! Monday 18th March, Open Book Reading Group  10am-12pm, 5th floor at The Welcoming Join us every week as we discover new authors and stories together. This is a lovely way to meet new people and enjoy reading together.  Monday 18th March, Employment Workshop  3-5pm, 5th floor at The Welcoming  Drop in to Leon’s employment workshop for a chat about what support you need with your CV, interview prep or application writing. This is a chance to enjoy informal conversations within a small comfortable group. The session is run by volunteers Pirjo and Eva. We are Hiring Evening Assistants. The Welcoming are looking for two friendly, reliable people to assist us by looking after the office space in the evenings at our facilities in Westfield Avenue. The role will involve covering reception and welcoming visitors to the building and securing the building. What we are looking for: A reliable and trustworthy person who is able to commit to 2 to 3 evening sessions mid week (Monday- Thursday 5pm-8pm)Reasonable English speaking standard (with the Right to Work in the UK)Someone with some experience and knowledge of the services we provide at The Welcoming. Theatre Production Sunday 17 March 2019  7.15pm to 8.30pm at Augustine United Church, 41 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1EL We have a some FREE tickets for a theatre production ‘Where are you really from?’  an exploration of identity, culture, labels and stories of migration. Sharing the stories of asylum seekers and refugees living in Scotland, what label they are given and how they are treated. The play shows why people leave their home countries, what they face in a new community and how they are treated in a new country.
