What’s on at The Welcoming. Saturday 13 April- Monday 22nd April Please note that all activities and classes will cancelled on Friday 19th, Saturday 20th, Sunday 21st and Monday 22nd April because of the Easter Holidays. The programme will resume and the building reopen on TUESDAY 23rd April. Saturday 13th April (10am – 12 noon), Sunday 14th April (11am – 1pm) Digital Skills for Arabic Speakers These classes are delivered in Arabic and English and are a great way to gain confidence with using computers for email, internet, shopping, banking and creating all kinds of documents. Spaces are limited so please call the Welcoming office on 346 8577 or email [email protected] to book your place.  Saturday 13th April, Creative Space Every Saturday, 12-4pm, 5th floor at The Welcoming Come to Creative Space (every Saturday any time from 12-4pm) for fun and games and of course creative activities!  This week we are having a knitting club between 1 and 3pm. Tuesday 16th April, Gym & Swim Session 3-5pm, Leith Victoria Gym & Swimming Pool Our weekly gym and swim session has a new day! We will meet at Leith Victoria at 3pm (there will not be a meeting point at The Welcoming), for our workout session! Join us to use the gym, or have a relaxing swim, for just £1. Tuesday 16th April, Games Night Every Tuesday, 5-7 pm, 5th floor at The Welcoming Join us for our weekly games night on the 5th floor! We have a range of activities available, including table tennis, pool and a great selection of board games.  Wednesday 17th April, Scotland for Newcomers  Every Wednesday from 3pm to 5pm. Join us on Wednesday for a trip to an exhibition which is part of the  Science Festival. “Celebrating Women in Science in Scotland” is a multi-media  exhibition featuring some of the country’s leading scientists. These incredible women are changing the way we see and understand the world! This is a chance to enjoy informal conversations within a small comfortable group. The session is run by volunteers Pirjo and Eva. The Welcoming and Dynamic Earth are happy to announce the return of the English Language: Climate Challenge Course. This is an interactive experience which will be held at the Dynamic Earth Learning Bases. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn about climate change using state of the art facilities. Please be sure you can attend the whole course and book your place as soon as possible as we only have limited spaces. For a space please email [email protected]  We are Recruiting Volunteers….Want to connect with new people and learn how to have meaningful conversations about what integration is and how we can celebrate and incorporate diversity in our communities? We do, and that’s why we are hosting a special weekend of activities in June 2019 where we will be playing a game called Go Deep.  It is a game open to any group that is interested in the future of a community. It is a like a journey, where groups of people are invited to try creative approaches that will allow them to explore issues around diversity in our communities and  create collective actions and community transformations that are positive for all. This will be a chance for everyone from The Welcoming -participants, volunteers, friends and staff- to think of what challenges newcomers face when arriving to Scotland and most importantly, what we can do together to ensure Edinburgh is a welcoming place for all. To find out more about the game, pleaseclick here. At the moment, we are recruiting volunteers with an Intermediate level of English or above that want to deepen their leadership and facilitation skills by being involved in the delivery of the game. We offer you full training and support, and in return you will develop new skills and learn more about how to work with groups, be a change maker and a compassionate leader in your community.
